If you have said at least once this season, "I can't wear sequins without feeling like a disco ball" (or something similar), this feature is for you.
When labeled together, the seemingly harmless words of "festive" and "fashion" strike fear in our fashionable hearts. To the sophisticated soul, holiday fashion doesn't mean sugar plums. It stands for:

Never fear. During Fall/Winter Fashion Week, designers showed off a brand new troupe of holiday clothes reminiscent of retro times when sequins were chic. Right now, stores are packed with wearable glimmer and glitz, from mass-market slip dresses to clutch couture.
Light Up the Night, Not the Christmas Tree

The body-loving fit of this dress is super versatile. It looks great when paired with opaque tights or even a leather jacket. Deck it out without looking like an ornament yourself. Palette multitone dress at Forever 21.
Lapis and Lace

The best loved blue shade of Winter 2012 whispers chic and roars with style. Here it is seen with antique lace overlay, making it a fab look for a matching lace blouse or calf-length black dress. Stella pump by Badgley Mischka (also available in beige) at Piperlime.

GASP-worthy news: a slew of stylish (and needless to add, pricey) Marc Jacobs outfits were announed as stolen on its way to a press viewing from Paris. How the job was done is still a mystery, especially since the entire collection consisted of 64 outfits (not pieces, outfits) last seen on the MJ catwalk during Fashion Week.
A beautifully teal and aqua outfit from the Spring/Summer 2012 collection is one of the missing ensembles: Whodunit?!
The items are samples (aka meant to fit the bodies of runway models) and most likely stolen for resale. Jacobs' PR team has assured press they are working closely with law officials to get to the bottom of this. If the Marc Jacobs theif (or thieves, more than likely) is brazen enough to actually be seen wearing these pieces, she or he had better steer clear of the world -- because everyone's on the lookout!
